Submissions
Come and be a part of the show from between two shores!
The FOB SHOW is constantly accepting submissions for our future shows. As a true immigrant troupe, we understand that our shows
should not just be a reflection of our troupe members, but also represent the larger immigrant experience everywhere.
FOB ka ba? Are you a FOB-at-heart? Wanna be a FOB?
Share your FOB experience. Tell us a story. Give us an idea. Submit a piece!
THE FOB SHOW is a mutli-genre show, which means that you're free to submit pretty much any form of expression about the immigrant
experience. Though please follow the guidelines for any of the below:
Scripted Stage Pieces: 20 min max
Scripted pieces may be of any category (comedy, drama, etc.) and form (one-acts, sketches/skits, monologues). Please send
submissions via email in Word format.
Films: 15 min max.
Films can be any of the following: documentary, animation, fiction or non-fiction (drama, comedy, dramedy, etc.), dance/movement,
music video, or performance art.
Preferred formats are DVD, Mini-DV, and VHS. Please contact the producers if you plan to submit in a different format (i.e., 16 mm,
Beta-Cam, etc.).
Songs: 5 min max
Preferred formats are electronic files sent over email (mp3, m4a, etc.). However, other formats may also be submitted physically
(CD or cassette tape).
Poems
Please send submission via email in Word format.
Photography
Please submit an electronic copy of the image (jpg, gif, etc.). Final selections will then be asked to send hardcopies.
Movement/Dance
Submissions for dance can be either a) in the form of film (see Film section above) or b) a concept/artistic brief explaining the piece. If the submission is the latter, the choreographer may be invited to work with the troupe in a workshop setting if selected.
Puppetry/Shadow Puppetry
Submissions for dance can be either a) in the form of film (see Film section above) or b) a concept/artistic brief explaining the piece. If the submission is the latter, the puppeteer may be invited to work with the troupe in a workshop setting if selected.
Ideas!
Always inspired to create something but never had the opportunity or time to put it together? Let us help you! We can workshop or
incorporate your thoughts into our show. Great things start with something as simple as an idea. Examples may include (but are not
limited to):
- Ideas (eg. "why don't you guys adapt this short story into a skit?"
- Concepts (eg. "why don't you guys do comedy skits about a Tito Boy in Reality TV shows?")
- Personal anecdotes (eg. How your first day in America was)
- Jokes
- "Poigniant Observations" (eg. "Did you ever notice how bringing home pasalubong is becoming more of an obligation rather than
thoughtfulness?")
Ideas can be sent as either text in the body of an email or in Word format.
Please include the following along with your submission:
- Contact Information (include address, phone, and email of main contact)
- Self-addressed, stamped envelope (for return of materials) -- only necessary if you do not wish to have us archive your
materials at Bindlestiff. Please indicate your choice upon submission.
